Nature lover

I share the joy of birdwatching and time spent in nature through my books and events at rewildinglife.com.au

With a background in magazine and book design, Melissa Mylchreest has turned a love of art and nature into a lifelong creative adventure. After studying fine art and graphic design, she began her career in corporate design roles before becoming an art director and working across some of Australia’s most-loved magazines. Over 20 years in publishing culminated in her role as Creative Director at Australian House & Garden.

In 2014, Melissa founded King Street Press, a boutique design and publishing studio that produces custom books, reports, illustration, and visual content for authors, councils, and cultural organisations. In 2020, she launched Rewilding Life, her own series of creative, self-guided books and experiences designed to encourage people – especially families – to slow down, head outdoors, and connect with the world around them.

Melissa’s book Rewilding Kids Australia, combining her illustrations and philosophies, was published by Hardie Grant Books in 2022.

Today, Melissa brings together her skills as a self-publisher, illustrator and designer to create both custom projects for clients and original content that inspires curiosity, creativity and connection – whether in a gallery, on a trail, or at the kitchen table.
